We have been learning all about estimation and rounding. Students have learned to round to the nearest 10 and 100. Today we made video using the Educreations app explaining the rounding process. Students worked in teams of two and recorded their explanations of rounding while also drawing it out. You really have to "think on your feet". Below you will find my example and each teams video. Character Trait Popplet

Our skill this week has been "I can identify a character's traits and support them with details from the text." To do this we have been using our "author and me" thinking. This means we have to think about how the character has been behaving and choose a word to describe this behavior. This is the "me thinking" and the word becomes our character trait. Examples of character traits can include: scared, sneaky, nervous, dramatic, adventurous, etc. The next step is support our thinking or prove our thinking with evidence from the text. The author leaves us clues in the text to help us figure out the character trait. This is the "author thinking". Below you excellent examples of this thinking using the Popplet Lite app.

Story Elements with Trading Cards

Our class was working on the elements of a fiction story. These include characters, setting, problem and solution. Our class created a Trading Card on a character they were reading about.

You will see these examples posted below. If your child's card is not here they may still be finishing it or I may not have permission to post (since their name is displayed for them)
